What is primary copy protocol?

A protocol for concurrency control of distributed transactions. Each replicated fragment is designated as either the primary copy or a secondary copy. During distributed transaction processing, only the primary copy is guaranteed to be current at the end of a transaction. Updates may be propagated to secondary copies after the end of a transaction.
