What is call-level interface (CLI)?

A language style for integrating a programming language with a nonprocedural language such as sql.a cli includes a set of procedures and a set of type definitions for manipulating the results of sql statements in computer programs. The most widely used clis, the open database connectivity (odbc) supported by microsoft and the java database connectivity (jdbc) supported by oracle, are compatible with the sql:2003 cli.
