What are ACID properties in Databases?

ACID is an acronym for atomic, consistent, isolated, and durable. Atomic means all or nothing. Consistent means that a database does not violate integrity constraints before or after a transaction commits. Isolated means that other transactions cannot see the updates made by a transaction until after the transaction terminates. Durable means that the effects of a transaction are permanent after committing even if a failure occurs.
