A number of factors can prevent a PDF documenting from opening in Adobe Reader. Some of the reasons are listed below:
1. Non-compliant PDF Document: If it does not conform to industry-specific PDF standards. PDFS created using non-Adobe products may not comply with the complete PDF specification.
2. Damaged Reader or corrupt installation
3. Out-dated version of PDF reader
