PU - CEES celebrates the Earth Day

According to a notification, issued by the Punjab University (PU), the College of Earth & Environmental Sciences (CEES) has celebrated Earth day 2012 in which faculty members and a large number of students were participated. A speech competition was also held among the students of the college about the various aspects of Earth Day including the water resources of Pakistan, water scarcity, energy crises, recycling and green technologies etc. according to this year’s theme ‘Mobilize the Earth’. An oath taking ceremony was held with a resolution by all the environmentalists to save the earth and protect the environment.

College Principal Prof. Dr. Firdaus-e-Bareen in her concluding remarks urged the students to love Mother Nature and observe their environment keenly and vigilantly in order to perceive innovative ideas. She asked them to think behind the cause of life on the planet earth and its existence in the universe highlighting the importance of plants as producers and the sole creatures capturing solar energy for the life of all organisms.
