LUMS - Dr. Ramzan Publishes Book On Bank Automation

According to a notification, issued by the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), Dr. Muhammad Ramzan, Director Gad and Birgit Rausing Library recently published his second book titled “Bank Automation System: Analysis, Design and Implementation.” This book has been published by Lambert Academic Publishing, Germany.

According to the notigication, the book introduces different online products and services being offered by banks which are termed as e-banking, electronic banking or Internet banking. It highlights the need for automation of manual operations to computerized systems. A major part of the study comprises systems analysis, system design, system evaluation and development. The study aims to develop an automated bank system, taking MCB (Muslim Commercial Bank of Pakistan) as a case. The study is first of its kind an effort to present a complete set of procedures and protocols for development of an automation project for banks and similar financial institutions, feasible for developing countries, like Pakistan.

Automation of operations is among the research interests of Dr. Ramzan. He feels that organisations and institutions can work more effectively and efficiently when they have employed an automation system. He is of the view that automated systems reduce human efforts and save a lot of work hours which can be utilised in other productive activities. "Productivity can be increased by deploying a right automation system that will ultimately help in generating more revenues and making better profits," says Dr. Ramzan.
