Lecture on Cyber Laws and Crimes

According to the official notification, issued by the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), Dr. Ali Qazilbash, Chair, Department of Law and Policy, LUMS, delivered a lecture on Cyber Laws and Crimes at the Punjab Judicial Academy, Lahore on March 29, 2012 as a part of a capacity building programme for the Judiciary and legal professionals.

"Cyber Crimes is an unattended field in Pakistan and lawyers and judiciary are unaware of the technicalities of the field," says Dr. Ali Qazilbash. His lecture helped in creating awareness about legal responses to these crimes. It presented the audience, which comprised district and sessions judges, a comprehensive overview of Cyber Crimes and explained the technicalities of the Cyber World. The lecture also engaged in a comparative legal analysis of various advanced jurisdictions, and provided the judges with cutting edge knowledge on dealing with Cyber Crimes. The lecture was followed by an interactive question and answer session where the judges raised their queries. Justice Tanveer Ahmad, Director General of the Punjab Judicial Academy, Lahore, praised the legal and academic insights of Dr. Qazilbash and thanked him for assisting in the capacity building of the district judges.

This program was initiated by the Chief Justice of Lahore High Court (LHC) for capacity building development amongst the lawyers and district and sessions judges, in order to equip the judiciary and legal professionals to cope up with the fast paced developments in the legal field. For this purpose a lecture series has been arranged wherein judges of High Court and distinguished academics deliver lectures on various issues in order to introduce the Bar and Bench to the technical aspects of law and policy.
