Increments relating to educational qualifications not restored by Government

According to the information made available to the National Assembly by the Minister for Finance, Revenue, Economic Affairs, Statistics and Privatization, (Mr. Muhammad Ishaq Dar), it is a fact that the educational qualifications were discontinued due to the following:

As the concession of advance increments was originally introduced under the Basic Pay Scales-1983. It was fist admissible to the technical/professional categories of Government servants with a view to boost their performance in the specified fields. Subsequently, in the Revised Pay Scales, 1987, the concession of advance increments was liberalized and the non-professional/non technical categories of Governments were also allowed the incentive of advance increments on acquiring the educational qualifications higher than those prescribed for the post, irrespective of the specific relationship to their job description.
